Buying and selling sats with another person, with escrow in the middle: from the order book to «Sats in escrow», all the way to confirmation. Under two minutes, in English.

Many people hold bitcoin, few spend it. Shops that accept it see no customers and eventually stop; people who try to trade with strangers in chat groups find cloned profiles and vanished money. Barattolo closes the loop: a place where sats are earned, spent, and passed between real people.

Your sats don't go straight to the seller.
When you buy, your sats wait in escrow. The seller knows the money is there and ships with confidence; you know it won't move until the item has actually arrived.

Get in and out of bitcoin, person to person.
Buy sats from another person to get in, sell them to get out. The seller locks the sats in escrow; the buyer sends euros only when the page says «Sats in escrow». Barattolo never touches the euros: it runs on Mostro, an open protocol on Nostr.

Got sats and need something from Amazon? Create the order with cash payment, and someone pays it at the tobacconist's counter in exchange for your sats. Code, amount and expiry travel encrypted, and they pay only once the sats are in escrow. Available in Italy.
Nobody pays on trust.
The sats stay locked in escrow until both sides confirm. The seller can't take them back, the buyer can't grab them.

An eco-friendly B&B a few kilometres from Lake Garda that makes spreads, ferments, preserves and plant-based cheeses by hand, in small batches. On Barattolo since July, with their online shop connected: products from their website flow into Barattolo on their own.

Biodiverse rice, safeguarded rather than mass-produced. In the heart of the Baraggia near Vercelli they grow rare heritage varieties (Dellarole, Rosa Marchetti, Bertone 1819, Rosso Angelo Aromatico), saving their own seed year after year, with no treatments at all, not even those allowed in organic farming, in Europe's first agroforestry ecosystem for rice. Stone-milled in their own mill.

The Bitpost team are our friends. We run a similar project, and we work together anyway: we have been in touch and sharing ideas for a long time, each of us gets better thanks to the other, and we complement each other. So we created a shared group to answer questions: how we differ, and why a bitcoiner needs both.
Bitcoin is collaboration first, competition second. Like miners: they compete for the same block, but alone they would be worth nothing. A game theory that challenges the fiat world as we have always known it, to bring back a healthy world thanks to Bitcoin.

Shops that accept bitcoin become the network.
The marketplace is the foundation. The vision: every merchant that accepts bitcoin becomes a pickup point, then a delivery point, with couriers paid in sats. Sellers, couriers and buyers talk to each other directly, on an open protocol: anyone can plug in and grow it.

How do you sustain yourselves?
With a small fee on the P2P, reduced during the beta; on the marketplace it's zero. Plus services for shops: connected catalogs, story pages, featured spots, and community sponsors.
We don't sell data, and we have none to sell: no email, no phone number.
How does the P2P work legally?
The P2P is non-custodial: it runs on Mostro with hold invoices. The sats stay locked on the node until both parties confirm, and the euros go directly between the two people. We moderate disputes; we are not an exchange intermediary.
Why you, and not one of the many bitcoin projects?
We're not yet another wallet or yet another protocol: we're the place where people actually buy, sell and trade, with real shops, with the escrow that was missing, on open standards.
Barattolo was born from a real experience with scams in Telegram marketplaces: cloned profiles, vanished money. Others build pieces; we put them together for ordinary people.
Who's behind it?
There are two of us: Andrea, product and video, and Alan, development and the node. AI is the third team member: in one month we shipped P2P, deposits, cash in person and connected shops.
Our limit is time. What we need is a network.
How does the P2P work, step by step?
The seller locks sats in escrow → the buyer sends euros only when the page says «Sats in escrow» → the seller checks and releases the sats.
If you can't agree there's a dispute, handled by a moderator, and automatic alerts when escrow lasts too long. Methods: bank transfer, Revolut, Satispay, PayPal, cash in person with a deposit, and Barattozon.
What about privacy?
Log in with Telegram or with Nostr alone: no email, no phone number. There's an .onion site on Tor. Payment details are encrypted between the two people, and not even Barattolo can read them. Reputation is decentralized and can't be cloned.
Can it grow beyond Italy?
BTC Map has points all over the world: potential pickup points everywhere. Nostr is already bigger in Spain than in Italy: Europe is within reach.
The protocols are open, so other marketplaces and projects join the same network without asking us. Our «competitors» are our colleagues: with Bitpost, which runs a project similar to ours, we collaborate and share a group.
How will the delivery network work?
Three levels. Pickup point: the shop receives parcels. Delivery point: the shop ships with the network's couriers. Decentralized courier: anyone, paid in sats.
The protocol is on Nostr, partly existing and still to be standardized. Every shop has a reason to join, because it attracts people with sats to spend. On Barattolo there are already shops applying to be pickup points, and a courier.
What do you need?
Funding to launch the network: an open Nostr protocol for pickup points and couriers, marketing to get it adopted, and legal support to grow across Europe.
